Meet Our Local Advisory Board
Lisa Rumford - Chair of Governors
I am currently a Deputy headteacher in a 2 form entry Primary school. I have had 14 years of SENCO and leadership experience and have built 2 successful specialist provisions for children with Autism and Physical disabilities. Blackgates shows a clear strength with supporting SEND children and I enjoy seeing this is practice during my governor visits.
I am experienced in school improvement, analysis of data, SEN, CUrriculum design and keep up to date with key information relevant to my leadership role in education, so this can be used to support staff at Blackgates in my governor role.
I am DSL in my current role and the safeguarding governor for Blackgates.
I would like to invest my expertise to help Blackgates staff and children in the best way that I can.
I am also a parent to twins in year 5 so I can support in the role of a parent too!
Zoe Davison - Parent Representative
I currently have 2 children at Blackgates Primary Academy and a child at Woodkirk Academy.
I believe that every child matters and deserves the chance to succeed and achieve their own individual abilities. I believe all children should receive equal opportunities in a safe and nurturing environment for them to thrive in.
I enjoy working alongside the Governors and Staff at Blackgates Primary Academy to ensure our children have the best Primary Education possible to prepare them for their next stage of life.
I am the chair of Blackgates Primary Academy PTFA, with a passion for supporting our school and local community.
I am usually around at the start and end of the school day if you have any questions or concerns.
Angela Reid - Staff Governor
I have always been passionate about raising children’s aspirations and expectations of themselves through creating inclusive and nurturing environments where all children in my class feel safe and happy within an enabling classroom that has an abundance of opportunities to explore and thrive through first hand learning experiences.
I have a vast amount of experience in my role of class teacher with an early years specialism and have worked in many different types of schools and different catchment areas within Leeds which has helped to broaden my knowledge and understanding of teaching further. I have recently joined Blackgates Primary Academy, and I am proud of the journey the school has been on in recent times.
I am now delighted to be work in a much closer role within the local community as a member of the school governing body and am looking forward to help to shape the strategic development of Blackgates Primary Academy, so that it can ultimately impact on the teaching and learning of every pupil in our care so that they reach their full potential.
Rose Harrison - Governor
Information to follow.
Shauna Tiffany - Parent Governor
As a passionate advocate for mental health, I'd like to share my knowledge and expertise with Blackgates to empower all children and families. With a focus on empathy and compassion, I strive to provide practical solutions for supporting children with SEND. While also strengthening family bonds and equipping parents with the tools they need to raise resilient, happy and healthy children when life presents us with unexpected challenges.
Emma Hardy - Governor
I’ve always had a passion for learning and development and while I completed a degree in Educational Studies with the expectation to then complete a teacher training course, a year out turned into rather a few more!
I’ve now spent close to 25 years as a civil servant, managing operational teams both at home and overseas, having been lucky enough to have lived and work in Asia and Africa, exposing me to different cultures and widening my experiences.
I’m excited to now step back into a school environment as a governor, using some of my skillset to support Blackgates to deliver against the ‘Believe, Achieve, Succeed’ motto as every child matters and deserves the opportunity to be their best.
